| Installation Guidelines for Linear Duct Heaters | |
|
When choosing the proper Linear Duct Heater model, primary consideration should be given to calculated BTU loads and adequate air flow.
The location of the Linear Duct Heater should be dry and accessible for service. Install the duct heater as close to the unit's blower as possible, using the fasteners provided. The duct heater has no position-sensitive parts and may be installed in horizontal or vertical positions. Grilles should be sized according to Marine Air Systems design standards, install the return air grilles low and the supply air grilles high. Return air grilles must have removable filters installed. Ducting should be sized according to unit specifications. Ducting should be connected to the heater assembly using proper fasteners |
(self-tapping screws, etc.). Hose clamps are not recommended. All ducting should be installed as smoothly and as straight as possible, avoiding any unnecessary bends or loops. Once the ducting runs are positioned properly, they should be securely fastened to avoid shifting due to motion of the vessel.
Circuit breakers and wire gauge must be sized according to marine design standards. Only stranded tinned copper wire should be used. All equipment should be properly grounded. Each duct heater is equipped with a thermal overload protector and an overcurrent fuse link. Do not bypass these devices to operate the heating element. Replace failed devices prior to re-operation. |
